Dear friends and lovers of the circus arts,
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we present the 1st International Circus Festival of Portugal, a major international gathering dedicated to the creativity and magic of the circus arts, taking place in the city of Porto in October 2027.
This event marks a historic moment for the arts in Portugal, celebrating talent, creativity and the magic of the circus in a gathering that promises to captivate audiences of all ages.
Conceived by César Dias and Sandro Monteiro, both deeply passionate about the circus arts and committed to celebrating established and emerging artists, the festival was created as a platform to bring cultures together, encourage innovation and honour the great traditions of the circus.
Inspired by some of the world’s leading international circus festivals, including the prestigious International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo, the International Circus Festival of Italy – Latina, the Budapest International Circus Festival in Hungary, and the Golden Elephant International Circus Festival in Girona, Spain, we decided to bring to Portugal an event that honours the rich heritage of the circus while also embracing the most modern and daring expressions of this art form.
An international celebration of the circus arts, this festival will be much more than a show. It will be a unique gathering of artists from around the world, representing a wide range of circus disciplines: from trapeze to juggling, clowning to acrobatics, dance to physical theatre and contemporary circus.
Porto will become the stage where tradition meets innovation, where the magic of the circus takes on new dimensions, and where artists and audiences come together to share unforgettable moments.

One of Portugal’s most awarded and recognised comedians of his generation, with an international career marked by numerous awards and performances on some of the world’s most prestigious stages.
A true ambassador for the circus arts and comedy.
Driven by his passion for the circus and his commitment to promoting this art form in Portugal, he brings his experience and artistic vision together with that of Sandro Monteiro.
A renowned show director whose extensive experience in the management and production of cultural projects brings a solid, professional and innovative approach to the festival.
The objective is clear: to bring to Portugal a major international cultural event and establish the country as a leading presence on the global circus arts scene.
The festival will be a unique celebration of circus tradition and innovation, bringing together internationally renowned artists, encouraging cultural exchange and offering audiences an unforgettable experience.
More than a show, the festival will provide a platform for emerging talent, pay tribute to the roots of the circus and offer audiences the opportunity to discover the very best this art form has to offer.
We believe that this event will not only mark a milestone in the history of circus in Portugal, but will also become a cultural reference capable of raising the country’s profile on the international stage.

Infrastructure, comfort and safety
The tent will be fully climate-controlled, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant environment for audiences, regardless of weather conditions.
The venue will feature capacity control and secure access management, ensuring a safe and well-organised experience throughout the event.
The venue will also be equipped with modern, accessible toilet facilities for men, women and people with reduced mobility, including baby-changing facilities.
These facilities will be regularly maintained and cleaned throughout the event.
